Canada's Consistent Support & Special Immigration measures for Ukraine

The Canadian government is committed to supporting people affected by the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

The government is helping Ukrainians and their families obtain visitor visas as soon as possible to help them find safe, temporary accommodation in Canada.

Various Canadian provinces, territories and settlement organizations are also actively working on expanding their services and making them available to Ukraine nationals in Canada.

As a part of the Government of Canada’s special measures and response, Canada has helped thousands of Ukraine nationals find safety in Canada.

As per the official data 2022, a total of 9,223 Ukraine nationals have arrived in Canada by land and 49,646 by air.

Following are the measures put in place by Canada for Ukrainians and their families:

  • Created the CUAET, i.e., Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel measures to help Ukraine nationals come to Canada as soon as possible for work or study
  • More newcomer services for Ukraine nationals arriving in Canada
  • Waiving fees between February 2022 and March 2023 for particular application types for Ukrainians
  • Support for flights to come to Canada with family members, helping them book a commercial flight with the flexibility to choose the date, airline, flight timing and destination in Canada.
