As per the news release by Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada (IRCC), significant progress has been registered in Canadian immigration in the year 2022. The news release outlines what to expect in 2023.

Ranging from a record-breaking applications being processed, to updated and streamlined application process, 2022 has been a wonderful year for Canadian immigration.

4.8 million applications were processed in 2022

By the end of November, the IRCC had processed approximately 4.8 million applications. That’s almost double the 2.5 million applications that were processed at the same time in 2021. In the last four months, the applications inventory was also around half a million, and IRCC has been consistently working on reducing wait-times for application under all-programs.

In August 2022, IRCC also announced to hire 1,250 new staff to help streamline the overall application processing system. Also, the IRCC took steps towards modernizing applications by swapping to digital application.

Record number of Canadian study permits were issued in 2022

By the end of this year, IRCC issued a record-breaking number of study permits, i.e., more than 670,000 study permits in comparison to 500,000 at the same period in 2021. Also, new study permits are being processed as per the 60-days service standard.

IRCC planning to welcome the record-number of newcomers in next 3 years
