In the 16 express entry draws held in 2024, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued total 34,570 ITAs for Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) Visa this year.

CRS Score in All-Program Draw

In the latest all-program draw, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement was relatively high, set at 529. This threshold, while challenging for some candidates, reflects the competitiveness of the pool. However, there is optimism among applicants as future draws are expected to see a reduction in CRS score requirements.

Anticipation for Category-Based Draws

Looking ahead, the IRCC plans to conduct category-based draws, targeting specific groups of candidates. These draws are anticipated to offer opportunities for individuals with lower CRS scores to receive invitations for permanent residency. The upcoming category-based draws will focus on candidates from six selected categories:

  • A strong French language proficiency or
  • Work experience in one of the below fields:
    • healthcare
    • science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
    • trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors
    • transport
    • agriculture and Agri-food

These draws aim to address the labour market needs of various provinces and territories, ensuring that skilled workers are matched with available job opportunities across Canada.
