Canada Intends to Start Occupation Specific Express Entry Draws in Early 2023

As per the IRCC's spokesperson, the Canadian government is planning to conduct targeted, all-program Express Entry draws and implement other reforms in the first quarter of 2023.

In a recent with a leading daily, Immigration Minister Hon. Sean Fraser stated that without the Express Entry amendments, the system doesn't allow IRCC to tailor ITAs to meet in-demand qualifications or skills.

In case there are a various applications in one sector, but that particular sector doesn't have high requirements in Canada, the Express Entry will most likely to invite candidates who do not fit perfectly as per the needs of Canadian economy.

Fraser also stated, "I expect we'll see a potential increase in retention rates because people are coming in knowing they have opportunities because that was the basis of their invitation to apply." He further acknowledged that an open and transparent selection process is essential keeping in mind the interest of Express Entry candidates.

An occupation in-demand EE draw is when the IRCC selects candidates based on their job skills AND experience instead of CRS score alone. The upcoming EE draws are expected to help the federal government fill vacant job positions effectively in comparison to the current system.
