Canada invites 1,000 French-speaking candidates in new Category-Based Express Entry Draw

On December 7, 2023 the most recent category-based Express Entry draw opened to issue a total of 1,000 invitations specifically to candidates demonstrating proficiency in the French language. Particularly, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this draw was comparatively low, set at 470 points.

This draw was strategically tailor-made for Francophone candidates, reflecting the Canadian immigration system's pledge to promoting linguistic diversity. With this new EE draw, Canada has now issued total 100,971 Invitations in 37 separate Express Entry invitation rounds held in 2023 until date.

Category-Express Entry draws will be key in 2024

In May month of this year, i.e. 2023, the IRCC revealed its plan to organize Express Entry invitation rounds cantered on distinct categories. These draws target Express Entry candidates who meet particular criteria, such as possessing proficiency in the French language or having professional experience in one of the below five designated occupations:

• STEM professions
• Trades
• Transport
• Agriculture and agri-food

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will hold category-based draws in 2024 as well, providing opportunity to the candidates having experience in in-demand occupations in Canada.
