This substantial funding addition was announced on May 12, 2023, by Mr. Harjit Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada, on behalf of the Canadian Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser. Speaking about this key measure, Minister Sajjan said,
“Pre-arrival services provide permanent residents with the resources to make informed decisions about their new life in Canada. This new funding will deliver consistent, high quality, client-centred services to people around the world. With our investment, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. can continue supporting the needs of newcomers by offering helpful online and in-person services.”
Minister Sajjan had made a visit to S.U.C.C.E.S.S., which is one of 15 service providers that provide key details, orientation, and referrals to new immigrants. This organization offers online and in-person services abroad to newcomers before they arrive in Canada, comprising details about the following:
- Canadian workplace
- Soft skills development
- Employment counselling
- Services personalized to refugees that help them prepare for jobs in Canada.
