Canada is investing in S.U.C.C.E.S.S. to ensure pre-arrival services for newcomers

The S.U.C.C.E.S.S., a prominent group dedicated to supporting newcomers in Canada, is set to offer much needed pre-arrival services to new immigrants in Canada. Recognizing the crucial role of pre-arrival settlement services in ensuring a hassle-free transition to life in Canada, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has received a sizeable investment of nearly $12 million from Canadian government. This substantial funding addition was announced on May 12, 2023, by Mr. Harjit Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada, on behalf of the Canadian Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser. Speaking about this key measure, Minister Sajjan said, 

“Pre-arrival services provide permanent residents with the resources to make informed decisions about their new life in Canada. This new funding will deliver consistent, high quality, client-centred services to people around the world. With our investment, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. can continue supporting the needs of newcomers by offering helpful online and in-person services.”

Minister Sajjan had made a visit to S.U.C.C.E.S.S., which is one of 15 service providers that provide key details, orientation, and referrals to new immigrants. This organization offers online and in-person services abroad to newcomers before they arrive in Canada, comprising details about the following:

  • Canadian workplace
  • Soft skills development
  • Employment counselling
  • Services personalized to refugees that help them prepare for jobs in Canada.

This latest investment has a target to improve the provision of dynamic pre-arrival services, equipping newcomers with the essential tools and information to make sensible decisions even before setting foot in Canada. By offering inclusive support and guidance, these services empower immigrants to seamlessly fit in into their new communities and accelerate their employment prospects.

The funding extension to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. forms part of a bigger initiative to strengthen settlement funding across the country.
