In the all-category draw of federal Express Entry System opened by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on April 10, 2024, total 1,280 candidates received the ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) Visa. In the 14 express entry draws occurred in 2024, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued total 27,975 ITAs for Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) Visa this year.

Analysis of New EE invitation round

There has been a trend in express entry invitation round results since the inception of the category-based Express Entry draws. In all general (all-category) draws, the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score or CUT OFF remains high, while in the category-based invitation rounds, the IRCC drop the CUT OFF to invite candidates with experience in high demand occupations or proficiency in French language.

Category-Based Selections this year

Canada has continued the same six categories for category-based selection in Express Entry draws throughout 2024. These categories include:

  • A strong French language proficiency or
  • Work experience in one of the below fields:
    • healthcare
    • science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
    • trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors
    • transport
    • agriculture and Agri-food
