Migrate to Canada on a PR Visa

Canada's Permanent Residence Visa is one of the most sought visas for skilled and talented professionals in India and aboard. With IRCC (Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada) issuing increased numbers of Invitations to Apply for Canada PR, more and more candidates are getting a chance to get selected from the pool. Thus, this is indeed a right time to create your Express Entry profile and enter the pool.

However, to get a PR visa in Canada, you must choose a suitable point-based Canadian immigration program. There are more than 80 economic immigration programs via which you can apply for Canada PR from India. Among all, the Express Entry system makes an ideal choice, thanks to its less complicated immigration process and quick processing time.

Immigrating to Canada through Express Entry

Express Entry system manages permanent residence applications from skilled foreign nationals under following economic immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The EE system has a two-step application process where the first one is to qualify and submit your Express Entry profile by meeting the MEC, i.e. minimum eligibility criteria, which requires you to submit following documents:

  • English/French language proficiency report
  • Educational credential assessment report for education obtained outside Canada
  • A valid passport or any other travel document

Once you submit your EE profile and enter the pool of candidates, you will get a score and rank among other candidates in the pool. The IRCC give scores and ranks using a points-based, Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

The IRCC (immigration, refugee, Citizenship Canada) use a highly competitive and transparent system to assess and score the profiles in the pool and rank them based on:

  • Age
  • Skills
  • Educational qualification
  • Language ability (English / French)
  • Work experience
  • Additional factors (provincial nomination, job offer, etc.)

Based on the above factors, you get a score out of 1200. Suppose you successfully obtain the minimum cut-off requirement as per an individual Express Entry draw which generally occurs on a bi-weekly basis. In that case, the IRCC will send you an Invitation to apply for Canada PR from India.
