Studying in Canada Possible Even Without IELTS

Studying in Canada Without IELTS

Most Canadian colleges and universities need international students prove their proficiency either in English or French, but there are a few exceptions.

Requirements as per the schools

In Canada, all the post-secondary schools have their own set of language proficiency requirements for international students. A few schools have quite strict criteria for English proficiency, while there are a few schools that have very more relaxed English proficiency requirements.

If you are dreaming to study in Canada, you must go through the colleges and universities admission requirements. A few schools, like Memorial University and Concordia University, have quite low IELTS criteria for some study programs, allowing international students to take up a few English language courses after starting the school.

Exemptions for Some Students

In some cases, overseas students are also exempted from giving an English language proficiency test. If you too come from an English-speaking country or have completed study in English, you may get an exempting from the mandatory IELTS requirement.

However, such exemptions vary from school to school, so you must check for the requirements of that particular schools where you are planning to apply for admission.

Accepted language tests

Most of the Canadian schools accept the IELTS test. However, you must note that the school you are applying for accepts the IELTS Academic exam.

Also, a lot of Canadian schools accept test results from Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
