Tips to Create a Stronger Express Entry Application
The Express Entry Canada is a highly popular and competitive application management system which manage PR applications from skilled foreign workers under following federal economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The first and foremost step towards immigrating to Canada through Express Entry is to create and submit an Express Entry profile. To qualify and enter the pool of candidates, you must meet minimum eligibility criteria of any one of the above mentioned Federal High Skilled immigration programs.
Inside the pool, the IRCC assess each and every profile using Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) which award score to candidates based on key factors. A perfect Express Entry profile would help you improve the chances of obtaining ITA for Canada PR along with other highest ranking candidates.

- Improve language skills
Your language ability in English or French is one of the best way via which you can increase your CRS score. You may take up classroom or online IELTS coaching or may learn second language, i.e. French to get additional points for your Express Entry application.
- Work upon employment reference letters
Reference letters are mandatory to submit once you obtain an ITA for Canada PR within 60 days along with your final and complete application and other required documents. Reference letter/s is not just any other recommendation letter, it is in fact an evidence of the actual work you performed as a skilled worker and as you have mentioned in your Express Entry profile.
It is highly recommended to start gathering the letters ahead of time so that there won't be any delay in submission once they receive their ITA for Canada PR from Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
- Get Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
An ECA report is a mandatory document for all those skilled foreign applicants under FSWP who have gained education outside of Canada (degree, diploma or certification). However, an ECA can help applicants earn additional points for their foreign education if applying under the Federal Skilled Trades program (FST) or the Canadian Experience Class program (CEC).
- Gather supporting documents well in advance
You must keep the documents like your passport or any other travel document and your identity documents updated to submit as and when asked by the IRCC. Also, there are other supporting documents which are of utmost importance like medical examination certificate and police clearance certificate, which you must gather well in advance while you are still in pool so that you can submit it along with your PR application upon obtaining an ITA.
